How we got engaged:

Anthony proposed under palm trees during sunset on a white-sand beach on a small island off of Puerto Rico. We spent the day snorkeling with very chill sea turtles and a friendly nurse shark, which made everything even more special.

Where we're going on a honeymoon:

Italy! We'll start in Rome and will attend an audience with Chicago's very own Pope Leo XIV, where we will hopefully have our marriage blessed by him! Then we'll head to Tuscany and Sardinia.

How we met:

We met at a Dow Jones data journalism internship in 2019! We sat next to each during the first seminar and we've been inseparable ever since.

The most memorable trip we've taken together:

H: Asides from our trip to Puerto Rico, the Canadian Rockies! Highlights were fishing in glacial streams, hiking and enjoying afternoon tea at the Prince of Wales Hotel.

A: We visited a small town in northern New Mexico along the Colorado border and spent the weekend in a little lodge next to a clear stream in the Ponderosa forest. Heather caught her first fish there, and we spent an evening barbecuing and listening to herds of elk calling to each other.

Favorite date:

A: Going to the Balloon Fiesta in Albuqerque and seeing hundreds of hot air balloons take off.

H: A completely free date at the Alderman, a speakeasy cocktail bar in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood. I was writing a piece about the best places to go in Chicago, so all the drinks went on the company card.
